ANDY KOW TO TAKE THE LEAD THIS WEEKEND AT GRA AUTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP

Grass Racing Autosports also known as GRA an affiliate of Motorsports Association of Malaysia (“MAM”) will be having the 3rd round of the GRA Autocross Championships this weekend, 6-7 September in Sepang International Circuit’s Car Park (PA1).

Deemed as this year’s fastest autocross layout, hot favorite Ivan Khong in his red Subaru Impreza current leader and 2007 Autocross Champion may not be able to compete due to work commitments. Andy Kow (above) currently 2nd in the Championships with a similar Subaru Impreza may be leading this weekend’s assault.
GRA 2008 is sponsored by Red Line Oils, Meguiar’s Detailing Products, Gophers Personal Navigation System and Vanli Genuine Parts. The event is jointly supported by MAM. All sponsors will be on ground to support GRA’s cause for grassroots motorsports on the day of event.
Howard Goh of Red Line said, ‘GRA is making a difference for motorsports by providing enthusiasts an avenue to start motorsports in a legal and proper manner’. Mr. C.K. Lim Managing Director of Vanli said, ‘We are one of the largest distributor of genuine parts in this region and providing enthusiasts genuine parts is our biggest goal’. Gophers Brand Manager Stephanie Ng said, ‘GPS is part of the automotive industry and GRA allows us to showcase our products’. Mr. Johan Wong of Meguiar’s said, ‘GRA is part of our family and we love to see the race cars gleaming with our detailing products’.

Pro-Grass would be held in the afternoon at around noon. Team Red Line comprising of Jason Foo and Julian Pang (left) both in the same category of 2000cc and below would be going head to head again this round.
Mitch Chong a novice driver that has made some impact onto the title chase of the 2000cc and below class would also be vying first spot.

Soo Seng Kuan in his Honda Civic 1.8 would be missing this round as his car is not ready for competition. In the 1300cc category, Kenneth Chiew from Team Meguiar’s would be the eventual winner again not unless Andy Kow and Charlene Khoo in their Perodua Kelisa Automatic are able to give him a run for his money.

Charlene Khoo was the fastest lady for both rounds and finishing on podium twice.
Pro-Gra Mickey Teoh (right) suffering from car problems in both rounds would be looking forward in finishing Round 3 without incidents in his Toyota MR2 Turbo.

In the Grass Class, William Lim in his Suzuki Swift would be trying to dethrone Garick Goh in his Proton Satria 1.6 from Class B. Though William is in the Automatic Class below 1600cc, he would be aiming to be the fastest Overall Novice as how he did in Round 1. Garick Goh leads the 1600cc Class, with Julian Foo in a similar Proton Satria and Charlie Ling in his Toyota Trueno in hot pursuit.
Chee Tun Poey would be in his Mitsubishi Evolution 5 for this round thus he would up against the drivers in Pro-Grass. Ricky Teoh would be eyeing a podium finish this round and he is due to arrive at Sepang Airport on the Sunday morning of the race from an overseas business trip.

For cars under 1300cc, Woo Keen Pong in a Perodua Kancil from Team Vanli (left) would be eyeing the podium spot along with Wong Kang Yoon in his Proton Iswara Aeroback.
In the Automatic class for cars below 1600cc, Adam Marcos in his Honda Civic is expected to be on the podium again. For the Automatic class for cars below 2000cc, Victor Lim in his Ford RS Lynx is expected to have an easy win again.

According to Mia Sharizman, “This event organized by GRA has been well organised with focus on all aspects of the sports in mind which includes the safety measures as well. We are pleased to work hand in hand with GRA to further promote the sport. As at today we have a total of 76 competitors holding MAM’s licence for this event’.
