|The upcoming “Spettacolo Sportivo” from 23 to 24 August will see the largest gathering of Alfa Romeo cars at the famous Dutch track of Zandvoort. The “Spettacolo Sportivo” to be held at Zandvoort, organized by the Dutch club of the SCARB (Stichting Club Alfa Romeo Bezitters), will witness the biggest Alfa Romeo gathering in Europe.|
It’s a genuine full immersion into the true values of Alfa Romeo, the Italian brand famous the world over owing to its distinctive style, state-of-the-art technology, and top-level handling and driving pleasure. All of these features have been refined over its history of more than 100 years, a prestigious achievement shared by very few auto makers and peppered with commercial successes and racing wins.
Paying tribute to the Alfa Romeo 155 V6 Ti at “Spettacolo Sportivo”
When the Alfa Romeo 155 V6 Ti DTM debut at the first race in Zolder, Belgium in 1993, it claimed a double victory. At the end of the season, the Italian race squad won no fewer than 12 out of 20 races, including numerous podium finishes. Alfa Romeo took the Constructors’ title of that year, while Nicola Larini clinched the Drivers’ crown. The 155 V6 Ti DTM had a powerful engine designed specifically for racing “beats” under its bonnet: the block comprised the standard 2.5-liter V6 engine with power reaching 420 hp at 12,000 rpm, a sophisticated aerodynamics package, a balanced weight distribution, and a four-wheel configuration for the first time in the DTM.
Aside from the Alfa Romeo 155, there are two special units of the 1954 Giulietta Spider to be lined up for showcase at the “Spettacolo Sportivo”. Built on the Giulietta Sprint’s floor panel, but with reduced wheelbase, the Giulietta Spider immediately met with international success. On show in Zandvoort is the 1955 Giulietta Spider America prototype, which is heralded as one of the most beautiful cars ever made and a symbol of the fifties, boasting the same performance as the Sprint and the same level of technical excellence, to the extent of immediately making the spiders of rival manufacturers seem obsolete. The second Giulietta Spider, designed by Bertone, belongs to a private collector.
Alfa Romeo 4C lends a hand at “Spettacolo Sportivo”
Last, but not least is everybody’s favorite, the Alfa Romeo 4C. The 4C is again on course to awe the crowd at Zandvoort as it has done so at various venues. The Alfa Romeo 4C also happens to be the Official Safety Car for both the WTCC (World Touring Cars Championship) and the SBK (Superbike World Championship) series. Combining a 240 HP 1750 Turbo Petrol engine with the latest-generation ‘Alfa TCT’ dry twin clutch transmission and the advanced Alfa DNA selector (with Race mode), the 4C achieves record torque and power output per liter at over 200 Nm/l and 137 HP/l, respectively.
