FINAL SPURT IN THE TITLE RACE
14 September 2004 With two races two go, there are three drivers in contention for the 2004 DTM Championship title. Behind championship leader Mattias Ekström (Audi) with 61 points, Christijan Albers (DaimlerChyrsler Bank AMG-Mercedes) and Gary Paffett (C-Class AMG Mercedes) kept small title hopes alive with third and fourth places at Zandvoort a week ago. Albers is second overall with 48 points followed by Paffett with 45 points. The track: The 5.4-kilometre Auto Motodromo Brno is the longest track on the DTM calendar, about 900 metres longer than Hockenheimring (4.574 kms) and Lausitzring (4.534 kms). The circuit has been built in 1986 and features six left- and eight right-hand corners. Between the highest and the lowest point of the track there are about 75 metres. |
