  The season opening race of the Formula 1 World Championships in Melbourne witnessed a very early season ‘sound-off’ by Ferrari to snatch the titles from rivals Mercedes-AMG F1 Team. Sebastien Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen were first and third at the Australian Grand Prix, while Lewis Hamilton and colleague Valtteri Bottas, second and eighth.

  The season-opening race of the 2017 Formula One World Championships has started proper with the qualifying session at the Albert Park track in Melbourne, Australia. Defending F1 Champions Mercedes-AMG F1 Team kicked things off with Lewis Hamilton qualifying on pole. Hamilton topped Ferrari’s Sebastien Vettel and team mate Valtteri Bottas, after the regulated three sessions.

Marquez tops MotoGP Phillip Island qualifiers despite wet conditions

 2016 MotoGP Australian Marc Marquez on pole The Australian Grand Prix qualifiers saw new MotoGP Champion Marc Marquez capture his 37th career pole in premier class. It was Marquez’s seventh pole of the season, as he topped Cal Crutchlow and Pol Espargaro to lead the first row. Aleix Espargaro qualified fourth, ahead of Jack Miller and Danilo Petrucci, to lead off the second row.

Rosberg repeats win at the F1 Australian GP

2016 F1 Australian GP Nico Rosberg race Like the previous season, the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix win would go to Nico Rosberg. Rosberg took the win from team mate Lewis Hamilton and Sebastien Vettel, who should have been the victor. Things, however, would swing Mercedes’ after the mid-race disruption following Fernando Alonso’s heavy crash. It was Rosberg’s 15th career win, whilst Hamilton netted himself an 88th career podium finish.

F1 Australian GP: Hamilton breezes to easy win at season-opener

 2015 F1 Australian GP Lewis Hamilton race The Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix saw Reigning Champion Lewis Hamilton continue his win streak from last season. To add the icing,  Nico Rosberg’s second place made sure of a dream start 1-2 finish for Mercedes in their title defense year. Ferrari’s newbie and four-time champion Sebastien Vettel took a deserving third place for a podium spot, ahead of Felipe Massa’s Williams. Only 11 cars made it to the finish as six others were classified DNFs.
