Audi prepares positively for related 2013 championship series

 audi-prepares-positively-related-2013-championship-series  Audi Motorsport has been hard at work in their preparation for the 2013 motorsport series after a mediocre season in the Deutschen Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) eventhough it’s the holiday season. Though Audi had one of their worst seasons in DTM, elsewhere the four-ring marque had attained Le Mans, World Endurance Championship (WEC) and U.S. Racing customer programs successes. Next year, the auto brand from Ingolstadt intends to bounce back in the DTM and repeat the successful feats.

Mazda returns to Le Mans with new SkyActive-D LMP2 car

 mazda-returns-le-mans-skyactive-d-lmp2-car Twenty two years after their last Le Mans participation with the legendary 4-rotary Mazda 787B, Mazda Motorsports has announced that it will release racing versions of its new SkyActiv-D Clean Diesel engines to teams competing in the Le Mans Prototype 2 (LMP2) class of 24-hour endurance event from 2013. Mazda was the first – and to this day, remains the only – Asian manufacturer to score an overall win at the race, in 1991.

Lorenzo takes charge after French GP victory

 lorenzo-takes-charge-french-gp-victory  Jorge Lorenzo captured what would be his finest wet Grand Prix victory at the MotoGP Round 4, Le Mans when he stormed through from a fourth place grid start to lead the first lap race proceedings. Thereafter, he took control of the race and created a gap to the chasing pack. By the mid-race distance, only reigning champion Casey Stoner was able to pursue the Yamaha rider, but Lorenzo remained in charge on the remaining laps. The Spaniard managed to hold the lead until the chequered flag, and to the surprise of the MotoGP paddock, Valentino Rossi had dispatched Stoner for second place on the final lap, relegating the Repsol Honda man to third place.

MotoGP Round 4 moves to Le Mans; Stoner retires at the end of season

The big news prior the Le Mans festivities would be the imminent retirement of reigning MotoGP Champion Casey Stoner at the end of the current season. At the tender age of 26, Stoner has had enough as he cited personal reasons for his decision, as well as suggesting that MotoGP’s new direction – with the introduction of lower-cost and lower-performance CRT machines for some riders – also played a part.

Toyota announces new Le Mans drivers for the second TS030 Hybrid

 toyota-announces-le-mans-drivers-ts030-hybrid  Toyota Racing has announced the drivers line-up for the second TS030 Hybrid LMP1 for the 2012 Le Mans 24-hour race from 16 – 17 June. Current and former F1 drivers Sebastian Buemi, Anthony Davidson, and current Super GT series driver Hiroaki Ishiura will join Alex Wurz, Nicolas Lapierre and Kazuki Nakajima in Toyota’s big entry in the classic 24-hour race event of the world. In earlier announcement, Toyota has already confirmed its entry in the World Endurance Championship with a single Hybrid TS030 challenger.

World Endurance C/Ship & Le Mans beckon for Audi motorsport

Audi, of course, has won ten Le Mans titles since  2000.

Audi competes in final ever ILMC race with the R18 TDi
