  The sixth season of Audi R8 LMS Cup championship returns to Sepang Circuit for the opening double rounds. Reigning Champion and home driver Alex Yoong is determined to defend his crown against veterans and newbies alike. Yoong’s main rivals will again be Alessio Picariello and Martin Rump. Former F1 driver Will Stevens starts his first race in Audi’s one and only one-make race in Asia.

Audi DTM Star Mortara joins R8 LMS Cup run at Sepang

 2016 DTM Hockenheim Edoardo Mortara (ITA, Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline, Audi RS5 DTM), #6 Robert Wickens (GBR, Mercedes-AMG DTM Team HWA, Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM), #51 Nico Müller (CH, Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline, Audi RS5 DTM) All sights are set on the Sepang International Circuit as the Audi R8 LMS Cup returns to Malaysia’s one and only Formula One track. Qualifying is slated for tomorrow, followed by the two races on Sunday. Audi DTM driver Edoardo Mortara is set to join Reigning Audi R8 LMS Cup Champion Alex Yoong and the rest of the series’ drivers on track, over the weekend.

Audi R8 LMS Cup to conclude at Yas Marina, Abu Dhabi

  At the onset of the Audi R8 LMS Cup Malaysian Rounds 5 & 6, the organizers have announced that the series’ finale is scheduled to be held at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi in December. The R8 LMS Cup runs as a support race to several recognizable race series such as the new GT Asia, Super Taikyu and WEC (World Endurance Championship). This season’s R8 LMS Cup kicked off at the Korea International circuit in May, then Rounds 3 & 4 were held at the Fuji Speedway.

Audi R8 LMS Cup begins preparations for 2nd season

  For the upcoming R8 LMS Cup Asian Edition customer racing program, Audi is introducing a push-to-pass boost on all regulated R8 LMS race cars. Last weekend’s track test at Zhuhai International Circuit, China saw the first time the R8 LMS cars utilize the push-to-pass boost for overtaking and related purposes.
