PETRONAS PRIMAX 95 ENSURES RELEVANCY AND PERFORMANCE TO MALAYSIAN MOTORISTS

10 July 2009  - Following the successful introduction of the new Petronas PRIMAX 95 fuel by Petronas Dagangan Berhad in Putrajaya, a brief ceremony was hosted by Petronas Dagangan at the Petronas outlet along the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR 2) in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur recently to make the Primax 95 available to Kuala Lumpur citizens. The event marked the Company's commitment to spear-head the RON 95 fuel supplies to all stations across the country. It was also the Malaysian Government's aspiration to implement RON 95 throughout Malaysia.

The new fuel had made its national debut two months ago at the official ceremony by the Malaysian Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumers Affairs, Y.B. Dato' Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob at the Petronas outlet in Precinct 9D in Putrajaya.

The Primax (RON) 95 is equivalent to the current RON 97 with similar efficiency on engine performance and protection. Currently, the Primax 95 is the only RON 95 fuel available in Malaysia that meets Euro 2 emission standards.

Petronas has ensured consumers that the Primax RON 95 is suitable for all vehicle types, but for more information on fuel compliance on their vehicles, they are advised to refer to their OEM recommendations. Moreover, consumers are assured that the switch from current fuel grades; RON 92 or RON 97, to RON 95 does not damage or cause vehicle performance deterioration, and also there are no known adverse effects should the current RON 92 or 97 is mixed with RON 95.

Petronas has also revealed that the Primax 95 is specially formulated to not only offer more mileage and superior engine performance, but more importantly costs lower at RM1.75 per litre. More than just value for money, the Primax 95 is further enhanced with a Friction Modifier to protect the engine's components as well as a Combustion Improver to enhance the overall engine efficiency. In addition, the new fuel is also formulated with a detergent to prevent the build up of deposits that degrade the engine's performance. 　 Aside from being eco-friendly, the Primax 95 has reduced sulphur contents of 500ppm which works in line with Petronas' long-standing commitment to sustainable development of protecting the environment.

Another interesting fact revealed by Petronas was that the higher RON doesn't necessarily means greater power or performance, it's merely myth, the truth is regardless of fuel grades, the difference lies in an engine's requirement.

Currently, the Primax 95 is available at Petronas Precinct 9D, Precinct 9 and the MRR 2, and will eventually be made available at all Petronas stations by September 2009.
