Ahead of the 2010 Super GT Championship, Nissan factory Teams were scheduled for a three-day winter test session from 12 -14 January at the Sepang International Circuit.

At the 5.543km long circuit, the GT500 cars ran on newly developed tyres (Yokohama) to explore grid levels and track surface assimilation. These tyres will be introduced when the new season of the Super GT Championship starts.

Yokohama Motorsport Department manager, Matsuoka Hirotsugu said, "It’s hot here all the time thus making it an ideal testing ground for the new hot weather tyre compounds we developed for racing.”

“Super GT is very demanding as the tyres not only have to suit the race track but also the cars and in Super GT we have a wide variety of cars that requires different tyre build,” he added.

This year, Yokohama is aiming to capture the championship for both the GT300 and GT500 class in the Super GT championship.

Super GT Championship Malaysian round at the Sepang International Circuit has been slated for Round 4 from 19 - 20 June. Yokohama's spokesperson said the tyres used in Super GT are not only for that particular series, but would be utilized on several Teams at the Merdeka Millennium Endurance Race (MMER) come August '10.

More information on the 2010 Super GT Championship will be released in due course. For early birds, ticket prices starts at RM70 for K1 grandstand and RM100 for the main grandstand for Round 4 Super GT Championship in Sepang.
