This weekend, Malaysian Drift fans are set for another pulsating Drift event, the KBS Goodyear Drift Challenge 2010 at the Precinct 3 in Putrajaya from 15 - 16 May. The Goodyear Malaysia - Ministry if Youth and Sports (KBS) collaborative event is also held in conjunction with the Hari Belia and to raise the standards of drifting and motorsports in the country.

The event will be officiated by YB Dato’ Dr Ahmad Zahid bin Hamidi, Minister of Defense and witnessed by Goodyear Malaysia’s Managing Director, Nasution Abdul Rahman as well as Putrajaya Holdings’ Chairman, Tan Sri Samsudin Osman.

“Goodyear Malaysia is pleased to be supporting the government’s initiative to nurture local budding talent and in playing a role in KBS’ program – 1 Belia 1 Malaysia. Activities such as the KBS Goodyear Drift Challenge further reaffirm our commitment to developing grass root skills aimed at building young talent in the field of motorsports,” said Nasution.

The KBS Goodyear Drift Challenge 2010 will showcase both local novice and expert drifters. including  Team Goodyear Malaysia's drivers – Ariff Johanis, Azrina Jane Abdullah (above picture), Hanizam bin Hamzah and Michael Gan.

Hanizam, who reached the Great Eight on his debut at the Formula Drift Singapore recently, and colleagues will be giving spectators an exhilarating, heart stopping experience as they demonstrate churning smoke, burning rubber and powersliding along the track at Precinct 3. They promise to wow the crowd by pushing their cars to the hilt while maintaining remarkable precision and control – all while running on Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric tyres.

The Eagle F1 Asymmetric was designed with a keen understanding of what the ultra-high performance segment needs for faster, more powerful and heavier vehicles requirements.  The tyres’ cornering ability plays a vital role in drifting because of its Active CornerGrip technology which was developed with the objective of increasing the tire-to-road contact area by distributing a more even pressure across the width of the tyres’ tread patch thus resulting in better control especially in tight corners.

Lucky spectators will get a chance to ride with their favorite drifters during the event. Catch the action at the KBS Goodyear Drift Challenge 2010 at Precinct 3, Putrajaya this weekend...Entrance is free.
