Daihatsu Malaysia Sdn Bhd (DMSB) today affirmed its fulfillment as a Hino 3S dealer which will effectively see the company expanding to now offer customers the full range of commercial vehicles from pick-ups and light commercial vehicles to medium range and heavy commercial vehicles.
Spearheaded by the Daihatsu Grand Max, launched last year, DMSB and Hino, by virtues of their worldwide alliance with the Toyota Motor Corporation, have joined forces to distribute a range of vehicles which consist 29 models and variants from buses to prime movers.
DMSB is made up of three main shareholders; MBM Resources Berhad with the largest stake of 71.5%, Daihatsu Motor Company Japan with 18.5% and the remaining 10% being held by Mitsui & Co. Ltd. DMSB has been in the Malaysian Automotive market for 30 years, and marking its anniversary, the company has announced its intentions to inject RM20 million to construct and setup dedicated 3S centres in major Malaysian cities, situated in Shah Alam, Ipoh, Butterworth, Batu Pahat, Johor Baru and Kota Kinabalu.
The company's core businesses include; sale and after sales service of Daihatsu pick-ups and light commercial vehicles, the sale and after sales of Perodua vehicles, and lastly, bodyworks engineering and development of accessories for light commercial trucks. Currently, DMSB has a network of 10 sales branches, 43 service outlets and a total 45 dealers nationwide.

"Now with the ability to offer a larger and wider range of vehicles to our customers, and our expansion into medium-range and heavy commercial vehicle segment, DMSB is optimistic that this newly-forged relationship with Hino will not only significantly contribute to growing the business of DMSB to a new and higher level, but in the process, help us evolve into becoming a more competitive player in the Malaysian commercial vehicle market." commented Ms Belinda Lim, Managing Director of DMSB.
"The success of the Daihatsu range of light commercial vehicles have over the years been built on a reputation of being reliable, low fuel consumption, durable, affordability and after sales service satisfaction," she added.

Later in the year, DMSB has confirmed its re-entry into the van segment - a segment that it had once thrived in with the previous Hijet models - with the first model to be unveiled at the Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show (KLIMS) in December.
The company is confident that the combined expertise and robust Hino joint-venture will boost overall sales, in term of units, to a targeted figure of 4,500 units per annum.
