The Proton Exora MPV has been added new elements in the wake of smaller powertrains on future automobiles and the auto industry's FL trends. Since its revelation in April 2009, the Exora has been the country's preferred Multi-purpose vehicle due to its affordability and some reliability. A total of 65,049 registered Exoras, including 82,854 bookings, have been reached, accounting for a monthly average of 1,800 units. Now, with the new Exora Bold premium and Prime variants, Proton is confident to achieve 2,000 units per month.
The Exora is favored by Malaysians because of its interior space, reasonable cost, some exterior styling for an MPV and all-round features; obvious criterias. The 2012 Exora now incorporates a 1.6-litre Campro Charge Fuel Efficiency (CFE) engine and CVT transmission. Proton's direction, with the updated Exora, is to move towards lower fuel consumption and greater output at a lower Revs-Per-Minute. The greater output at a lower RPM notion translates to additional push when accelerating on the fast lane or overtaking another vehicle. The upgraded CVT transmissions, either manual or automatic, give better gear-ratio selection on particular driving situations and discreet gear change, while ensuring “steepless” smooth acceleration.
Exterior updates on the Bold and Prime included; standard executive trimmings, with the six-seater Prime getting more new elements like: new front and rear bumper design, electric folding door mirrors, rear disc brakes (Prime only), blacked-out headlamps (Prime only), smoked rear combi lights (Prime only), 16” inch gold-finished alloys (Alloys for Bold), a rear garnish finishing (Prime only), and a new Absolute Brown color (Prime only).
New interior elements for the Exora Prime are walnut centre panel finishing, gear panel bezel, air-conditioning vent outlets and metallic beige door switch covers and inner door handles, a second row Captain Seat, head rest monitors and an audio system with reverse camera. The Bold takes up a dual-tone combination leather seats, with liquid silver appointments to its gear panel bezel, door switch cover, a/c vents and inner door handles, as well as a reverse camera and rear mirror with LCD.
The Exora Bold Premium and Prime will only be available for registration by the second week of January 2012. Test drives of the Exora Bold will be available at the Proton 4 U Day carnival from 16-18 December at all Proton sales outlets nationwide. The Prime however, will not be available for test drive and could be viewed at these showrooms: Crystal Showroom, Juru Branch, Plentong Branch and Mutiara Damansara. Pricing of the Exoras are listed as; Standard 1.6L RM 59,998, Bold 1.6 Executive MT RM 70,998, Bold 1.6 Executive AT RM 74,998,
Bold 1.6 Premium CVT RM 79,998 and Prime 1.6 RM 88,998.
