This test will be the first bridge between the most recent season and the next, as Kawasaki fields an all-new Ninja ZX-10R in preparation for the 2016 season. The new 2016 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R challenger was recently unveiled in Barcelona by the team riders.
At the Motorland Aragon, Sykes and his crew will work with the new challenger’s latest technical developments, including selected 2016 season parts; in advance of the imminent transition to the full-time track use of the new machine.
A host of advancements on the new road-going Ninja ZX-10R is the direct result of the experiences of the official KRT squad in the past WSBK seasons. Various enhancements has been adopted to ensure that the race machine will be ‘future-proofed’ for the next tranche of technical regulation changes in the WSBK. The forthcoming full winter test schedule will arguably be the most important steps undertaken by the team in recent years.
Prior to the test session, a select few got a shot at the current Ninja ZX-10R on track at the Motorland. These bunch of select few also got an opportunity of a lifetime to ride the championship winning challenger, the Ninja ZX-10R, following its most recent appearance at the finale in Qatar’s Losail International circuit.
With Sykes, the 2013 WSBK champion and four-time race winner this season, at the helm, Kawasaki Racing team are confident of a productive test at the Motorland. Sykes is also a double podium finisher at the final races in Qatar, only a week ago. The number two KRT rider plans to approach the first test at the 5.077km circuit with gusto. He happens to be the record holder at Aragon, thanks a 1;50.890 lap time set during race one en route to a third place finish, earlier in the season.
